About
The Maximist is writer, artist and political activist, Warren Draper.
As well as having a soft spot for aphorisms (…and, indeed, for aphorists), I use typography and letterpress printing techniques to try and encourage bookishness and a general interest in art and philosophy.
Our government wants (and has almost succeeded…) to put computers in every home, but fewer and fewer of those homes have books. But I firmly believe that books are the real portal for social change, and with this in mind I print unusual items (usually beer mats) with aphorisms, quotes and poems and then leave them in public places (usually bars – especially the Working Men’s Clubs of the former coal mining communities where I live) in the hope of introducing as many people as possible to inspirational writers, artists and poets. The beer mats in question are available to purchase via the.maximist [at] gmail.com; all proceeds will be put towards various community arts projects.
If there are any aphorisms, maxims, quotes or short poems that you would like to see turned into artworks then leave a comment, all contributions will be warmly welcomed
